There appears to be a new worm running around exploiting the well known bind vulnerability and installing a root kit on Linux boxes - Lion Worm Virus on Linux. Regardless, you should have tripwire or something running anyway so it really shouldn't be a very big concern.

Not sure if you've read about this already or not, but McAfee are warning PC users to be on the lookout for a potentially nasty worm called "Magistr". The worm has been rated as a medium-risk threat because it appears to be spreading slowly. Well a new version of VBS Worm Generator, the virus creation program used to write the Anna Kournikova worm in February, has been released by the program's creator, who claims that worms created with the newest version of his program will be undetectable by most antiviral software.

We've seen it before and we'll see it again. No, not an Flash movie of a married woman; it's an e-mail worm in the form of an attached executable that, once run, mails itself to everybody in your Microsoft Outlook address book. According to Symantec Corp. the worm then proceeds to delete all the .ini, .log, .dll, .exe, .com, and .bmp files from Windows and WindowsSystem folders leaving the system unable to function.
