Hackers can remotely take control of the computer using the exploit. The hack works on an unidentified glitch in the Windows version of the Firebadger 3.6 Web browser software.

VMware is telling customers that two Windows 7 security patches have left the VMware View desktop virtualization client unable to access the View Connection Server, which brokers the connection between a user's computer and a virtual desktop.

This led Gartner virtualization analyst Chris Wolf to write a blog post titled "Windows 7 Update Breaks VMware View Client" that says this week's event is "an important lesson in BYOD" deployments that let workers bring their own devices to work.

The iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak has actually been around for a while, but unfortunately it came with a catch. If a person had to reboot their device, then they'd have to tether it to a computer in order to start using it again.

That presented a major inconvenience for a person whose battery might die while they were on the go and then wouldn't be able to use their iPhone, iPod, or iPad again until they got back to their PC.

Sony's taken some strong steps against PS3 cracking in the past week -- not only has it taken to the courts and won a temporary restraining order against Geohot and fail0verflow for cracking the console, but it also released firmware 3.56, which locked things down again.

Unfortunately, that restraining order doesn't mean anyone else has to stop a-crackin', and wouldn't you know it: 3.56 was cracked open in less than a day by KaKaRoToKS, who was behind one of the first 3.55 custom firmwares.

Sony releases PS3 Update 3.56 - Death To Homebrew

Sony released the PS3 Update 3.56 last night. This update eventually did not add any new functions to the user’s ability to do more things; this update is a security patch that actually inhibits “hacker” communities from using the widely available, “jailbreak” to break into the PS3. The PS3 Update 3.56 is said to “kill” the custom firmware.

From what has been reported via the “hacking” custom firmware community, people that want to keep their “homebrew” may not want to download the PS3 Update 3.56. Sony may have put a slight damper on the “hacker” community.
