Apple customer satisfaction under threat

Apple is the leader in customer call satisfaction, according to a tech support report by consumer experience firm Vocalabs, but it has been getting worse at resolving problems and is rating lower on interactive voice response (IVR) satisfaction.

66 percent of Apple customers said they were satisfied with the customer service call they had, ahead of 51 percent for HP and 49 percent for Dell.

Seems like Apple is set to increase more obstacles for the Unlockers and Jailbreakers. iOS 4.3 jailbreak solutionseems a big target for the hackers as Apple has added ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization) in the upcoming iOS 4.3 firmware. At the moment iOS 4.3 is in its beta version but it will be made public very soon.

Hackers seems ready for this challenge as we have seen many of them tweeting about this. They seem optimistic but we know this is going to be complicated for them.

Apple appoints new security chief

Apple has appointed former National Security Agency analyst and notable author David Rice as the company’s global director of security, according to various reports.

Rice will make the move across from the US Cyber Consequences Unit, a technology policy think tank, where he was director of policy reform.

Apple producing more iPhone 5 parts in Taiwan

Apple seems to have plans afoot to move a number of their iPhone 5 parts from Japan to Taiwan, at least according to a report on Electronista. It seems that Taiwanese companies Foxconn, Foxconn Electronics, Foxlink, Gold Circuit Electronics and Epistar will now all be supplying parts for the iPhone 5.

Apple Doomed Without Steve Jobs

According to Jeff Christian, founder of executive search firm CTPartners, Steve Jobs cannot be replaced. He is Apple. "I've known Steve for over 15 years. At one point, I did most of the search work when Steve was gone and John Scully ran the company. I worked with Steve and got to know him pretty well when he returned. It was like they were two different companies," said Christian.

Rumbles are starting to gather strength in the Apple iDevice jailbreaking community, pointing towards the imminent release of the latest untethered hack for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Untethered jailbreaks are the Holy Grail of the various groups which work tirelessly to make sure Apple isn't able to dictate what you are allowed to install on the device you have paid (very) good money for, as they allow users to footle with their phones without using a hard connection to a computer.

Most of the attention in the tech world these days seems to have settled on next-generation Apple devices, the iPhone 5 and the iPad 2 and we’ve recently posted about rumored release dates which you can check out at the links.

We’ve also posted a rumor about both devices maybe having an A5 chip and also the first tip-offs that there may be a new processor. Now we have more news as an article over on Apple Insider reports that a hacker has come across evidence that the next iPhone and iPad, will have Qualcomm baseband.

Apple hits 10 billion downloads at App Store

Apple has just hit the 10 billion mark with its iTunes App Store service.

A counter on the iTunes site hit the 10 billion mark around 10.30am GMT on Saturday 22 January. The identity of the winner was not made immediately available, but will be revealed on the site later. For now, Apple has posted a message reading, "Thank you. Ten billion times."

Hacker finds evidence of Qualcomm baseband for Apple's next iPhone, iPad

A hacker claims to have discovered evidence pointing to an upcoming Qualcomm cellular baseband inside the code for Apple's iTunes software, possibly indicating that the iPhone maker plans to incorporate the CDMA giant's baseband into the next generation of iOS devices.

Notorious Italian hacker Zibri published a section of code on his blog Friday that hints at Qualcomm as the baseband provider for the iPhone 5 or iPad 2. Zibri obtained the code by decompiling the latest version of iTunes.
