Since the launch of the Xbox, Halo has remained the only genuine reason to own an Xbox. Nine months on, and the Xbox needs another killer app to satisfy the Christmas season. It seems Ubi Soft’s Splinter Cell is the only viable candidate, for the majority without Xbox Live. Fortunately the realism and style lavished on this Tom Clancy franchise may just pay off.

Melting ice caps, invading aliens, global warming and psycho killer robots. If films, books and video games are anything to go by the not too distant future is going to be pretty grim. But it's apparently not all doom and gloom. You see, Toxic Grind takes place in 2097 where BMXing is illegal. Just think - no more baggy jeaned teenagers hanging around outside McDonalds on a Saturday afternoon on their pavement cluttering BMX bikes. Brilliant!

Prelude A few weeks ago, someone on the SoGamed forums made a little joke. They posted an obviously fake e-mail from Erik Johnson and then said something like "I wish." Okay, so my memory is as fuzzy as my hair after sitting in a bathtub with a toaster, but the point is that this e-mail was not real.

CS 1.6 will not revert to CS 1.3's jumping style, diagonal walk speeds, or weapon accuracies/balance.

Greece's New Anti-Gaming Law

The Greek government has banned all electronic games across the country, including those that run on home computers, on Game Boy-style portable consoles, and on mobile phones. Thousands of tourists in Greece are unknowingly facing heavy fines or long terms in prison for owning mobile phones or portable video games. Greek Law Number 3037, enacted at the end of July, explicitly forbids electronic games with "electronic mechanisms and software" from public and private places, and people have already been fined tens of thousands of dollars for playing or owning games.
