Toxic Grind [ Xbox ]
Source: Games Asylum
Melting ice caps, invading aliens, global warming and psycho killer robots. If films, books and video games are anything to go by the not too distant future is going to be pretty grim. But it's apparently not all doom and gloom. You see, Toxic Grind takes place in 2097 where BMXing is illegal. Just think - no more baggy jeaned teenagers hanging around outside McDonalds on a Saturday afternoon on their pavement cluttering BMX bikes. Brilliant!
You'd be forgiven for not have having heard of Toxic Grind before as it hasn't had that much limelight in the press. The game started out life as a multiformat title, but became an Xbox exclusive a few months back for reasons unknown. At heart, it's your basic Tony Hawks clone. To wit - you ride around themed levels collecting icons and beating pre-set challenges whilst improving both your BMX and rider statistics along the way. But Toxic Grind also has something that Tony Hawks, Dave Mirra and company never had - a plot. Oh, and lots of razor sharp pointy things that are capable of taking both your eyes out.
