Ever since Apple TV began running iOS, it was a huge deal to know that it was going to be possible for hackers to easily jailbreak the set top box. The biggest pain of the jailbreak? It was tethered, this meant you had to physically plug your Apple TV into your computer via USB each time you wanted to reboot it. There have been some untethered Apple TV jailbreaks in that time, but today Seas0nPass is getting cord-free jailbreaking.

Production bottlenecks at Apple manufacturing partner Hon Hai could delay the next-generation of Apple's iPad until June, a new report claims. Analysts Vincent Chen and Alison Chen with Taiwan-based research firm Yuanta Securities Co. issued the report, Bloomberg said on Monday.

"Our checks suggest new issues are being encountered with the new production and it is taking time to resolve them,” said Chen. "As a number of Android 3.0 tablets are being launched in April and May, the delay in iPad 2 shipments may give the Android camp a brief window of opportunity."

While some publishers have bemoaned Apple's new rules regarding subscription based content, certain developers are starting to feel the pinch as well. Arc90, developer of the Readability Web service, has taken Apple to task for rejecting Readability's native iOS client on the grounds that it doesn't abide by the new subscription rules. Keyone Productions, maker of TinyGrab, has also decided to not even finish developing its iOS app, claiming Apple's rules are so confounding that it is impossible for the company to make an "acceptable" app.

Today it looks like this process has begun at some official iPad resellers in Europe.

First, official reseller Carphone Warehouse in the UK is now sold out of the 64 GB WiFi-only iPad. Even more interesting is the iPad 3G’s situation: all models are sold out at Carphone Wearhouse.

An announcement from Apple is expected soon about a new high-speed connection technology, a source told CNET.

Whether the new connector tech will be part of the upcoming MacBook Pro update (rumored to happen February 24) or announced in another context is not clear. Intel has been working on a technology called Light Peak for years and recently said the initial version would be based on copper, as practical realities dictate more conventional technology.

Apple has turned what used to be seen as a competitive disadvantage into a security benefit, according to experts at the RSA Conference.

Stephen Trilling, senior vice president of security technology and response at Symantec, said during a panel session that Apple used to be derided in the industry for having such a closed system, but that the approach has considerable security advantages. "A lot of people would argue that what hurt Apple 30 years ago, being so closed to most software, is helping the company now," he said.
