Apple's iPhone has been nothing short of an unbridled success in the mobile market. Since its launch in 2007, Apple has sold millions of smartphones to customers around the world, and several companies, like Motorola Mobility and HTC, have tried to jump on that bandwagon and generate the same kind of cash Apple has been able to tally.

Apple founder Steve Jobs has lost an alarming amount of weight and is reportedly sicker than has been previously admitted.

The computer genius announced in late January that 'at my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health.' Since then Apple employees have claimed that he can still be seen at the company's headquarters in California and is also calling all the strategic shots from his home.

Apple has turned what used to be seen as a competitive disadvantage into a security plus according to experts at the RSA Conference.

In a panel session Stephen Trilling, senior vice president of Security Technology and Response at Symantec Corporation, said that Apple used to be derided in the industry for being such a closed system but in fact the approach has considerable security benefits.

Jailbreak your iPhone? iBookstore purchases may be unreadable

As hackers push to crack Apple's iOS security checks, Apple appears to be pushing back. One user recently discovered that, after applying the latest greenpois0n jailbreak code on an iPhone running iOS 4.2.1, Apple has built checks into the system that prevent iBooks from opening DRM-protected e-books on a jailbroken device. While this user described the checks as a "screw you" to jailbreakers, they are likely a concession to publishers concerned about piracy.

Are the iPad 2 HD Rumors for Real?

The much anticipated iPad 2 hasn't even hit Apple Stores, while a new rumor about an iPad 3 arriving in time for the holidays began swirling around the blogosphere recently. Two iPads in the same year? What's going on? Does this rumor carry much weight?

"This is a serious problem," says tech analyst Rob Enderle. "If people believe the rumor, they will not buy on the [iPad 2] refresh, and Apple's stock price will tumble dramatically. This rumor could be an attempt to pump the stock and needs to be taken with a grain of salt."

The Mac App Store is, by most accounts, off to a good start. But not all entrenched Mac developers are ready to entrust their entire business to Apple's recently opened digital distribution point due to certain restrictions placed on how apps are packaged and how they access certain system resources. However, several mobile developers—already accustomed to App Store life—have begun to bring their iOS-only apps to the Mac platform thanks to the ease of porting and their comfort with the app store model.

iPad 2 and iPhone 5 will be hardware, not marketing

When it comes to convincing users to upgrade their gadgets to the next generation, it normally takes some smart marketing but this may not be the case for the iPhone 5 and iPad 2 release. Apple needs to back their devices with something extra, this will need to be a much better price that will combat the Android army, or hardware that steps up to another level.

Both sounds good to us, Apple could release a mini, cheaper iPhone 4X phone and a completely redesigned iPhone 5 for the 5th generation, which will have a premium price tag for those that want more advanced features.

Don't Buy Apple's iPad 2 and wait for iPad 3?

Reports have emerged of a fall launch of Apple's third-generation iPad in order to match the touchscreen tablet's release schedule with the company's annual iPod releases and the holiday season.

John Gruber of Daring Fireball sparked the first rumors Wednesday when he mentioned that the HP TouchPad may "bump up against the release of the iPad 3" in a post. HP unveiled the webOS-based tablet Wednesday, though the device will not become available until "later in the summer."

How to (unofficially) use FaceTime video chat on an iPad

Apple’s FaceTime video chat app works on the latest iPhone and iPod touch models, and also lets you video chat with uses on a Mac computer. The Apple iPad is still the odd man out though. There’s a pretty good reason for that: the iPad doesn’t have a camera. But rules are made for breaking, and hacker Intell has posted instructions for getting FaceTime to run on the iPad.
