Microsoft has launched another of its new Windows “Laptop Hunters” ads this weekend. While bloggers and journalists are spending lots of cycles dissecting everything from what the salesclerks are wearing to whether or not the “star” is an actor, the one thing I can’t help but notice is how crazy the new commercials are making many in the Apple community.

In the absence of any concrete news from Microsoft about Zune, the same rumors crop up every few months. We've known for some time that Microsoft is porting the Zune software and marketplace to some sort of living room device--it's called the Xbox 360. (I doubt they'll do a separate piece of hardware like Apple TV, especially given the recent rash of cost-cutting around the company.) And as far as the latest crop of Zune-phone rumors, I expected Microsoft to announce Zune for Windows Mobile back in February at the Mobile World Congress show, and was surprised when it didn't happen.

The Windows 7 beta release is already a few months old now, and Microsoft has already made quite a number of changes to its new windows release after that, as detailed in the Engineering 7 weblog. These changes would make it to the public via the release candidate, but it has always been a bit unclear as to when it would arrive. Thanks to a slip-up, we now know the RC is coming in May.

The latest version of Windows will boast touch-screen technology, it has been revealed. Microsoft Windows 7 will allow users to interact with their PC by touching the screen to drag files, scroll through web pages or zoom into pictures using technology currently available on the iPhone.
