Rumored iPhone 6 specs detailed by well known leaker

With only a couple more months to go until Apple's rumored launch of the iPhone 6, Sonny Dickson has come out with rumored specifications of the device on his twitter account. Dickson, who last year leaked the iPad Air, Mini, and iPhone 5C well ahead of its proper release date, revealed that these specifications could be "the real thing" and ended each post with the hashtag "#JustSaying".

According to research group OnePoll's "Mobile Mountain Study," conducted for resale website SellCell.com, iPhone owners are leaving a collective pile of unused legacy hardware on the table estimated to be worth $13.4 billion on the resale market, reports MarketWatch. That number has grown from the year-ago period, which saw about $9 billion worth of iPhones stashed away.

Apple is said to be testing prototypes of the so-called "iPhone 6" that lack bezels surrounding the devices' displays, according to the Korea Herald. Rumors of an iPhone featuring a bezel-less design have been circulating for years, with one report last November claiming that Apple was working on handsets with "larger displays with glass that curves downward at the edges."

Starbucks admits its iPhone app stores unencrypted user passwords

The Starbucks mobile app, the most used mobile-payment app in the U.S., has been storing usernames, email addresses and passwords in clear text, Starbucks executives confirmed late on Tuesday (Jan. 14). The credentials were stored in such a way that anyone with access to the phone can see the passwords and usernames by connecting the phone to a PC. No jailbreaking of the phone is necessary. And that clear text also displays an extensive list of geolocation tracking points (latitude, longitude), a treasure trove of security and privacy gems for anyone who steals the phone.

China Mobile signs deal with Apple, will launch iPhone 5s, 5c in January

 Apple officially announced its agreement with China Mobile today. The world's largest carrier and most significant remaining mobile operator to not sell iPhones will begin taking preregistrations on December 25 and bring iPhone 5s and 5c models to retail stores for sale on January 17.

While previously hinted at by a series of leaks and promotions, the partnership is now official, according to a press release issued by Apple. The announcement described the deal as a "multi-year agreement."

Obama not allowed iPhone for 'security reasons'

The troubled mobile phone maker BlackBerry still has at least one very loyal customer: US President Barack Obama.

At a meeting with youth on Wednesday to promote his landmark healthcare law, Obama said he is not allowed to have Apple's smart phone, the iPhone, for "security reasons," though he still uses Apple's tablet computer, the iPad.

Microsoft offers a new iPhone trade-in promotion

Microsoft is stepping up its trade-in promotion pace as of late, seemingly to try to stimulate demand for its Windows Phones and Surface tablets.

The latest new promotion, offered via the Microsoft Stores, is an iPhone trade-in. Kicking off today, September 27, the new promotion allow user to bring in their "gently used" iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 for a minimum $200 gift card which can be applied to any products for sale in the Microsoft brick-and-mortar stores. The promotion runs through November 3, 2013.
