Glasses-free 3D projector

Over the past three years, researchers in the Camera Culture group at the MIT Media Lab have steadily refined a design for a glasses-free, multiperspective, 3D video screen, which they hope could provide a cheaper, more practical alternative to holographic video in the short term.

Now they’ve designed a projector that exploits this technology, which they’ll unveil at this year’s Siggraph, the major conference in computer graphics.

HTC may be getting ready to give its flagship One M8 a supersized makeover.

Recent rumors have suggested that the Taiwanese handset maker was developing a larger, faster version of the One M8, a smartphone purportedly dubbed One M8 Prime. An animation posted by @eveleaks Tuesday allegedly shows a 360-degree view of the successor to the One M8, which was just released in March.

In unveiling the new laptop-tablet hybrid, Microsoft Surface chief Panos Panay noted that most people in the crowd were typing on Apple MacBooks, and many of those likely had an iPad in their bag. He also cited statistics that showed that 96 percent of iPad owners also own a laptop.

Signs point to Microsoft updating the Intel internals of the Surface Pro on Tuesday. And Windows Phone Central is claiming it has more details.

The site lists a variety of models -- or possibly just different SKUs -- based on a range of Intel Core series processors and a range of prices.
