700,000 kroner stolen in NemID attack

Hackers have broken into the online banking accounts of eight Danske Bank customers and stolen approximately 700,000 kroner.

The attacks were confirmed yesterday in a press release from Nets, the company behind the NemID digital signature for online banking.

Kaspersky slams Facebook for exposing Koobface hackers

An internet security firm has criticised Facebook for releasing details of the alleged members of a gang behind the Koobface worm, a piece of malicious software that attacked hundreds of thousands of computers through the social network's profiles.

In an unusual step in January, Facebook named six Russian men it said had been running the two million dollar scam against its members for the past three years.

India govt Web sites defaced

India's National Informatics Center (NIC) said nine official government Web sites were recently defaced, and disclosed that its servers, which host these sites, face unquantifiable amount of hacking attempts daily.

According to a report by the Times of India on Thursday, the affected Web sites belonged to the Power Ministry, as well as government sites of Maharashtra, Kerala, and Uttarakhand, among others. The attacks was said to have taken place "in the recent past" but no exact dates were given, it noted.

Anonymous threatens 'reign of terror' against Israel

The hacker group “Anonymous” released a video Friday threatening to begin a ‘reign of terror’ against Israel, in the latest round of cyber warfare between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli hackers.

The video, which was posted on YouTube in the early hours of the morning, blamed Israel for committing 'crimes against humanity,' and criticizing it for its treatment of Palestinians.

TeamPoison Hackers Hit the United Nations

Following on from the OpNigeria assault, a hacker operating under TeamPoison's banner has targeted the United Nations (UN), releasing the data stolen in a statement posted on Pastebin.

The Pastebin post appeared on Thursday alongside a statement by the hacker. Chronicling the organisations history, the hacker, named Casi in the release, gave no explanation as to their exact motivation past that the hack was done for internet freedom.

Hackers selling off Web credentials amassed in huge databases

Cyber-criminals have amassed so many credentials for various social networks and Web services that they are now creating the equivalent of discount factory outlets to sell them off, Trusteer Research reports.

The Web security vendor found advertisements offering to sell a database of user credentials by country. The advertising fraudster claims to have an active botnet collecting the information and has compiled 80 GB of data from victims.

Vietnam arrests man for hacking anti-virus company BKAV

A man suspected of hacking into the site of Vietnam’s top internet security firm at the weekend has been arrested, a company official said Wednesday.

Police worked with Bkav, a leading anti-virus software company, to arrest the man after the attack paralysed the company’s website for several days, Bkav director Nguyen Tu Quang said.

“Hackers are always trying to attack our site, but they are not always successful,” he said. Quang said the suspect was identified as a computer security employee at an information-technology company in Hanoi.
