Haralson bus driver fired after Facebook posting

Social media has been abuzz about the case of a Haralson County Middle School bus driver who was fired after posting statements to Facebook about a student not receiving a lunch.

School representatives say the issue has been blown out of proportion and call it an unfortunate case of miscommunication, saying the incident Johnny Cook posted about never happened. But Cook is sticking to his story and says something still needs to be done about lunch policies nationwide, not just here at home.

Facebook to take a stand against rape jokes, gender hate speech

Facebook has announced plans to renew its effort toward monitoring, and where appropriate, removing gender-related hate speech from its users, per a post on the company’s Facebook Safety page Tuesday. In its most recent battle, Facebook appears to be trying to differentiate what is “cruel and insensitive” and what is “distasteful humor” in order to answer complaints from groups including Women, Action, and the Media.

Microsoft warns of new Trojan hijacking Facebook accounts

Microsoft has issued a warning that a new piece of malware masquerading as a Google Chrome extension and Firefox add-on is making the rounds, threatening to hijack Facebook accounts

First detected in Brazil, Trojan:JS/Febipos.A, the malware attempts to keep itself update, just like normal, legitimate browser extensions, Microsoft noted in a security bulletin late Friday.

Facebook to reportedly unveil iOS competitor at April event

In a highly suggestive invitation to an April 4 event sent out on Thursday, Facebook welcomes media to "Come See Our New Home On Android," hinting the social networking monolith will finally reveal a much-rumored purpose-built operating system.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, TechCrunch says the Facebook OS will be a platform built on Android, with deep integration possibly baked into an HTC-manufactured smartphone. Speculation of a true Facebook-developed phone have been floating around for some time, though such a device has yet to appear.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has rewarded a security expert who has located a second flaw in the network. Security experts like Nir Goldshlager have been especially concerned about hackers targeting Facebook in recent months. Goldshlager, who found one bug on the social media network about three weeks ago, discovered a second flaw this week which allowed him to hack the social network a second time.
