Earlier today, a story emerged from the British tabloids that Bruce Willis was considering suing Apple in a bid to determine who gets his iTunes music collection after his death. Perhaps something more suited for April Fool's Day? We reported it (and fell for it) and we've updated the piece to reflect that the original source was a work of fiction. (Willis' wife tweeted this morning that the story was not true.)

YouTube can turn anyone with a camera into an eyewitness reporter, but that can be a problem when the subjects of the video need to stay anonymous.

To address this issue, YouTube has added a face blurring option to the site's built-in photo editor. When users apply the option, YouTube tries to detect and blur all faces automatically. The option appears under “Additional Features” in YouTube's Video Enhancements tool.

Human societies run on trust.  Every day, we all trust millions of people, organizations, and systems — and we do it so easily that we barely notice.  But in any system of trust, there is an alternative, parasitic, strategy that involves abusing that trust.  Making sure those defectors don’t destroy the very cooperative systems they’re abusing is an age-old problem, and we’ve developed a variety of societal pressures to induce cooperation: moral systems, reputational systems, institutional systems, and security systems.

Valve's Source engine will make its big screen debut in a movie called Deep, Variety reported on Saturday. The small-budget animated movie will use Valve's engine as a low-cost solution for real-time rendering and editing, an unusual approach that may grow in popularity for smaller studios. The partnership between the developer and the film production team may also result in the release of the movie on Steam.
