Apple seeds OS X 10.8.4 beta build 12E52 to developers

Exactly one week after the last OS X 10.8.4 beta was released to developers, Apple on Wednesday seeded build 12E52 of the upcoming maintenance update with no known issues.

Build 12E52 is the seventh release for OS X 10.8.4, and comes four versions a line of code was discovered pointing to Apple's ongoing efforts to introduce the 802.11ac Wi-Fi protocol in an upcoming Mac refresh.

Tim Cook to reportedly testify on offshore tax practices in Senate investigation

Apple CEO Tim Cook will reportedly give testimony to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation pertaining to how the company deals with taxes, a much debated topic as Apple is thought to have about $100 billion in offshore funds.

While it was known that the Senate would be holding a hearing next week Tuesday, POLITICO is reporting that Cook himself will be present to give testimony, possibly answering questions in the same vein as those answered by representatives from Microsoft and HP.

More figures are proving to a shell shocked Apple loving press that the overly hyped iPhone is slowly dying and is set to fall behind Microsoft.

According to Canalys, the excessive growth which has characterised Apple sales in the smartphone sector has slowed and the outfit only had 19 percent of the market.

iPhone 5 sees faster data speeds on T-Mobile after hacked carrier update

As the iPhone 5 launched on T-Mobile’s network, existing AT&T unlocked iPhone 5 customers received a carrier update to enable the LTE signal. As it turns out, in some cases the carrier update added something good with LTE, but negatively affected the signal and speeds achieved on the company’s refarmed PCS 1900MHz network.

'Next' iPhone display production to begin

A Japan-based report indicates that production of at least one key component for the next iPhone will begin next month.

Sharp will begin volume production in June of the display "panel" for the "next" iPhone model at its Kameyama plant in Mie prefecture, according to a report in Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, a major Japanese industrial newspaper.
