iPhone hackers tell all: dev team presents at 25C3

A portion of the iPhone dev team has finally met up in person. At the 25th Chaos Communication Congress, team members Bushing, Pytey, Musclenerd, and Planetbeing, along with several unnamed Pwnapple-wearing Russian speakers, joined forces to give a one-hour presentation about jailbreaking and unlocking the iPhone. The video of this presentation, which is hosted at Google Videos is available for both watching and download (190 MB).

Case maker fans iPhone nano rumors

An iPhone and iPod case maker has added references to an "iPhone nano" to its website, presumably based on its own belief that Apple is about to unveiling a smaller version of its touchscreen handset.

You can catch the references over at the website of XSKN, the same company reportedly behind the iPhone nano casing that drew much attention last week when renderings of the supposed product were published by iDealsChina.

Apple has acknowledged an issue encountered by some Leopard users trying to install the company's latest update released Monday.

In a support document posted to its site, Apple described an issue in which a Mac would hang on a "Configuring installation" window when trying to install Mac OS X 10.5.6. That was apparently the result of an incomplete update getting seeded into the Software Update process, and Mac OS X will freak out if it tries to install a partially downloaded update.

For the industrious types, obtaining an illegal copy of a “hacked” Mac OS X installation can be easily found. However, this violates the user agreement Apple has on it operating system, where the installation of said software on non-Apple systems is illegal. This has not stopped projects such as OSx86 from gaining ground and popularity. One such popular platform for hackers to install modified OS X onto is the netbook.

With its decision to end its relationship with the Macworld Expo, Apple is cutting one of its last ties to an era in which it wasn't a technology powerhouse.
