At least compared to the previous iPhones. But fear not -- nothing in unhackable.

Although Apple locks its phones to carriers as per exclusive and subsidized agreements, those who braved jailbreaking have found ways to unlock phone to work on other networks.

Unlocking tricks have persisted through all three previous generations of iPhones, but now the unlock situation is a little more complicated as the iPhone 4 is a new piece of hardware that's quite different from the 3G and 3GS.

One of the most popular topics regarding the new iPhone 4 is the reception issues a number of people have mentioned that seem to be exacerbated by hand placement on the device. While Apple currently suggests avoiding certain hand positions or using a case, there is a new report that suggests a possible fix for this issue.

What’s been rumor, speculation and a good way to fill blog space is now…well, still all of the above; but the rumors are beginning to sound more and more like hard fact — that Verizon has bagged the iPhone.

After a quote from Steve Jobs, and a statement from Apple attempted to gloss over the antenna reception issue plaguing the iPhone 4 launch as a "non-issue", it seems that Apple may actually be treating it as a real issue - at least internally. There are reports that an update to the iOS 4 firmware could come as early as this week to address the problem.

The iPhone 4 is Apple's "biggest leap since the original iPhone," at least according to Steven P. Jobs speaking at the WWDC 2010 keynote. Indeed, in the three years since Apple first introduced the iPhone, the device has come quite far. At the same time, the basic concepts behind the iPhone have remained very consistent over the years. Despite regular modifications to the OS and yearly hardware upgrades, the iPhone 4 is very much a more modern, more capable version of that original device that made such a splash in the industry back in 2007.

Many Apple iPhone 4 owners have found yellow spots marring the display of the new device.

This is not the first time display issues have cropped up with a new Apple product - earlier this year, users complained that the screens of their new 27in iMac computers had a yellowish tint. Apple had acknowledged the fault in February and offered refunds.

Earlier we reported on the widely experienced phenomenon of the iPhone 4 dropping 3G signal when gripped in the left hand. The problem is caused when the skin bridges the left and bottom antennas that also happen to be the device's stainless steel outer bezel. We asked Apple if it was aware of the issue, and on a lark copied CEO Steve Jobs since the flaw contradicted his statements about the "brilliant" antenna design during WWDC.

One week ago, on June 16, an unemployed man pitched a tent outside an Apple Store in Dallas, Texas, hoping to be among the first people to buy the iPhone 4, which doesn't go on sale in stores until Thursday.

Another man, this one with a sponsor, stepped into a one-man line Tuesday at Apple's flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City -- hoping for the same, along with a little cash, according to Fortune.com.

Unexpected new privacy rules give Apple and its associated “partners and licensees” the legal right to track, monitor, and store the whereabouts of its customers in real time. Users who do not agree to these draconian measures are prohibited from downloading from the iTunes store.

The official packaging of Apple's iPhone 4 has been revealed days before the product is set to launch, thanks to a photo taken at a Walmart where the devices have already arrived.

A tipster to Engadget sent the photo, along with the information that the iPhone 4 has arrived at Walmart's storehouses.

The box labeled "CDMA" in the background is unrelated, housing an LG 290C handset. While rumors of a Verizon-compatible CDMA iPhone continue to persist, there will not be a surprise this week.
