Foxconn workers rise up against security guards, dozens arrested

Hundreds of Foxconn employees living in a dormitory at the company's plant in Chengdu in southwestern China clashed with security staff on Monday evening, reportedly taking advantage of a minor disturbance to address prior grievances.

The world's largest electronic contract manufacturer called in the police to calm down the crowd and dozens of those who took part in the disturbance were arrested, according to Molihua, a news website advocating democracy and human rights in China.

Apple requests U.S. preliminary injunction against the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone

Late on Tuesday, Apple brought a motion, in its second California litigation against Samsung, "to supplement the record regarding Samsung's Galaxy S III product". Apple formally asks the court for permission to add the S III as another product targeted by Apple's motion for a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Nexus, a smartphone Samsung co-developed with Google.

Mac Pro may soon be updated for the first time in almost 2 years

After almost two years without an update the Mac Pro may indeed see some new specs next week at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. 9to5Mac, the latest source for all things rumored, claims to have new information following its previous report that most Macs would see an update at WWDC. This time, the site says definitively that the Mac Pro will get an update next week, though there is virtually no information on the specs of the new machines.

Apple Releases Guide To iOS Security

Apple has introduced a guide to iOS security, which was posted to Apple.com sometime in late May, but is just now being noticed outside the Apple developer community. The publication is notable because it’s the first time Apple has published a comprehensive guide intended for an I.T. audience. (Apple’s developer-friendly documentation on security matters is easy to spot, however). 

The new guide includes four sections dedicated to topics like system architecture, encryption and data protection, network security, and device access.

Apple to update most of its Mac lineup and multiple accessories at WWDC

While Apple has major software announcements planned for the upcoming World Wide Developers Conference – including iOS 6, an updated version of iCloud, and OS X Mountain Lion – Apple is also planning some incredible hardware announcements. Not iOS hardware, but Mac hardware. We have already reported that Apple will introduce a brand-new 15-inch MacBook Pro at WWDC with a thinner design, high-resolution Retina Display, and faster I/O, and now we’re hearing that the new MacBook Pro will only make up one component of Apple’s hardware announcements.

Apple releases iOS security guide

Apple has released an 18-page iOS security guide, releasing details of its products' security features for the first time.

The guide, released in mid-May, and covers system architecture, encryption, data protection and network security for devices running on iOS, which includes the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. 

Rumors fly about China greenlighting Apple iPad

According to a recent report at Patently Apple, China’s telecommunications bureaucracy last week granted a license for both 4G and 3G networks, which means Apple will be able to sell the latest iPad model on the mainland.

According to China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center website, the license was issued for the Apple device on Monday. Without it, the company couldn’t legally sell the new iPad in the Chinese mainland.

The guys from the Chronic Dev Team and the iPhone Dev Team, also known as the Dream Team, have taken center stage here in Amsterdam at the 2012 edition of the world renowned Hack in the Box (HITB) conference. Just before the event ended, the hackers held a press conference to answer a few questions.

Since they were probably the celebrities of the moment in Amsterdam, a fairly high number of media representatives showed up, eager to ask interesting questions. And the truth of the matter is that the answers given by the jailbreakers were nothing short of excellent.
