Sogeti to hold #SSEC2013 social engineering challenge alongside #HITB2013AMS
Global IT services provider Sogeti, will launch the Sogeti Social Engineering Challenge 2013 (#SSEC2013) during the 4th annual HITB security conference, #HITB2013AMS in April.
Last year, Sogeti was the first IT services provider to bring this challenge to Europe and the 2012 results reveal that it is relatively easy to retrieve information from large leading organizations. Sogeti wants to make more organisations aware of the importance of developing an effective security policy in order to avoid reputation damage, privacy issues or any other consequences resulting from the leakage of confidential information.
In the Sogeti Social Engineering Challenge 2013, participants will be tasked to obtain information that could potentially aid a hacker in penetrating the security of a company. Of course, Sogeti will be monitoring the challenge closely so no information will be accidentally disclosed and no unethical methods are employed thus ensuring the privacy of both the social engineer and the companies involved.
Interested to sign up and test your social engineering skills? Registration is now open and spaces are given out on a first come, first serve basis. If you're a company that would like to have your own security tested, Sogeti wants to hear from you as well. Companies who sign up to participate will receive a free audit report of the findings which Sogeti is hoping will help these companies formulate a better security policy.
