New anti-spam group formed
A group of international agencies and organisations have teamed up to launch StopSpamAlliance.org, designed to be a centralised base for data and resources in the fight against junk email.
The alliance includes Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), a forum promoting economic growth and free trade in the Asia-Pacific region, with 21 member states; the Contact Network of Spam Authorities (CNSA), an information-sharing initiative focusing on spam, formed by the European Union; the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a standards and regulatory body founded in 1865 and now part of the United Nations; the London Action Plan (LAP), a global network of consumer protection and regulatory bodies; the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), an international forum promoting good governance and market economies, with 30 member countries; and the Seoul/Melbourne Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), an information-exchange system founded jointly by Australian and Korean telecommunications agencies.
