ICQ2001b now available -- come get some.
For those of you that like to be on the cutting edge, perhaps you'd like to give icq2001b a quick test run. I downloaded and upgraded for 2000b and I have to say the new version is pretty sweet. It seems 'a little' slower than 2000b, but apart from that, it works fine. I haven't really had much time to play around with the new system, however there are two new enhancments that are immediately noticeable -- the first is the ability to send a copy of the message you're currently typing to the recipients handphone (via SMS) and/or to their e-mail in ADDITION to their computer. So let's say a mate of yours is offline, you've got the option of sending him a message at all 3 destinations in the hope that he'll be able to respond sooner.
The other new feature, is the automatic storage of your ICQ Contact lists on the ICQ servers. Thus if you head over to a friends place and want to make use of his machine, you've still got access to your personal ICQ contact list which would be retrieved automatically from the server when you switch identities. Pretty sweet, although I've been told that Yahoo Messenger could do this ages ago (?).
Anyway, if you wanna get the hook up for the download, you can get your installers from http://www.icq.com (which seems VERY slow right now), or you can download a copy I saved here. Enjoy.
