Xbox 360 claimed to be permanently hacked

Great news for folks who are keen on using the Microsoft Xbox 360 for homebrew purposes. Last week, some hackers announced that they’ve been able to bypass the Xbox 360 security system to inject and execute their own code. The hackers even released a video clip on YouTube demonstrating the hack in action. And what makes this attack different from previous ones is that it is supposedly unblockable by future software updates from Microsoft.

Hackers can be any shape, size, color, and creed, but they are all graced with a level of mental acuity that mere mortals simply do not possess. Physically, they are rarely exceptional. Philosophically and morally, they can vary from ultra-conservative to bleeding-heart liberal. Even by nature and nurture, there is no obvious way to discern whether someone will become a hacker or not.

A single hacker has successfully penetrated an events management company and obtained sensitive information belonging to 20,000 individuals, many of whom were United States government contractors or employees.

The cyber-attacker posted an Excel spreadsheet containing log-in credentials and personal information for 20,000 people obtained from allianceforbiz.com, according to a blog post signed by “Thehacker12″ on 22 August.

Blizzard says Diablo 3 Internet Requirement Prevents Hacking

Despite recent talk that Diablo 3's required Internet connection was all about the player's character and Battle.net's feature set, game director Jay Wilson made it clear that the requirement is also to prevent the same amount of hacking as seen with Diablo 2. The revelation was made while explaining why it's a bad idea to have an offline mode for the upcoming action-RPG game.

Brit MP says hackers threatened her kids

A conservative member of British Parliament who had urged shutting down social networks during the riots says hacking groups made threats against her children.

Louise Mensch, in a post on Twitter from New York Monday, said the groups Anonymous and LulzSec made the threats in an e-mail, The Guardian reported. She did not provide specifics but said the threats were designed to keep her from using the network, as she does often.

Hackers Post 1M Danish Government Business Records to Net

One million records from a business database maintained by the Danish government were posted to the Internet Sunday by an unknown hacker. In a message posted to The Pirate Bay website, the hacker declared the records were being exposed on the Internet as a protest against the government using public funds to process the records in question, then charging the public to access them.

Epson Korea says 350,000 customers' data hacked

Epson Korea Co., the South Korean unit of Japan's Seiko Epson Corp., said Saturday that its Web site has been hacked, causing the private information of 350,000 users to be leaked.

"We have discovered through an internal investigation that the customers' data were leaked. We apologize for causing the trouble," said Epson Korea in a pop-up notice on its Web site.

Korean HSBC attacked

The internet banking service of HSBC Korea was temporarily shut down on Saturday after its official Web site was attacked by hackers, HSBC Korea said.

The Internet banking service was paralyzed after HSBC Korea’s Web site domain operator Gabia was hacked.

HSBC Korea said it was notified from state-run Korea Internet Security Agency about suspected hacking of its Web site at 1:09 p.m. on Saturday and the bank managed to resume the Internet banking at 2:32 p.m.
