The Twitter status update page does admit to some general problems but there are no specifics yet on what's causing the latest outages. The page adds, "Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue."

We can all agree that the Westboro Baptist Church is the objectively worst collections of humans in the history of the species. And after planning to "protest" the funerals of dead children, the hackers at UGNazi got revenge.

A Twitter account belonging to Shirley Phelps-Roper, a "lawyer" and "official spokesperson" for the "church" (and daughter of its insane, bigoted founder, Fred Phelps) is now being run by UGNazi.

When something momentous is unfolding—the Arab Spring, Hurricane Sandy, Friday’s horrific elementary school shooting in Connecticut—Twitter is the world's fastest, most comprehensive, and least reliable source of breaking news. If you were on the microblogging site Friday afternoon, you were among the first to hear the death toll, watch the devastated reactions, and delve into the personal details of the man the media initially identified as a killer.

In an attempt to corner off Twitter-integration from any third-party applications, Twitter has now announced that photo integration from Instagram will no longer work, meaning tweets with images will not have an image embedded in the tweet, but rather a traditional link to the image. Furthermore, images will not appear in the user photo gallery either.

Users who send and receive Twitter messages via text message from their mobile phone are vulnerable to a weakness that could allow anyone to post a tweet to their account, according to a developer and security researcher who discovered the flaw.

Jonathan Rudenberg said in a blog post on Monday that all the attacker needs to know is the target's cell phone number. Then they can spoof the originating address of the text message, or SMS,

Over the past few days I’ve been using a interesting shell client Twitter program called AnonTwi. It’s an open source that in simple terms encrypts (using AES and SHA1 encryption) your Twitter and identi.ca public and private messages hiding your computer’s IP address. It connects with Twitters API using SSL, which means ISPs are unable to eavesdrop your keywords.

Twitter appears to have reset the passwords for an undetermined portion of its user base because of a possible security breach.

"Twitter believes that your account may have been compromised by a website or service not associated with Twitter. We've reset your password to prevent others from accessing your account," read an email.

Security hole exposes Twitter accounts to hacking, victim claims

A Twitter user has uncovered a (potentially) serious flaw with the micro-blogging site that allows hackers to gain access to your account. The attacker can then lock you out of the account and if it’s a “valuable” handle, it can be sold online to the highest bidder. This is exactly what happened to Daniel Dennis Jones just a couple of days ago.
