Research in Motion (RIM) has issued an advisory to warn of the risk of remote code execution attacks on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
The company shipped a patch that covers a total of five documented vulnerabilities that could be exploited via PNG or TIFF images.

The Official BlackBerry Blog - Inside BlackBerry, has been defaced by TriCk of TeaMp0ison in retaliation to an earlier statement issued by RIM regarding full cooperation with telecom operators and law enforcement officials relating to the riots in London. The defacement included the text below and has been mirrored by Zone-H though it is pending verification:
Dear Rim;
Research in Motion said Monday it will lay off 2,000 employees as it struggles to navigate a void in its product line-up as well as lower-than-expected sales.
When the layoffs are complete, RIM will have about 17,000 employees globally. The company said that it will take a charge in its fiscal second quarter and exact figures will be disclosed when RIM reports earning Sept. 15.
Research In Motion is in the midst of a major transition in every sense of the word. Publicly, the company is portraying a very defensive image — one that is very dismissive, as if RIM is profitable and class-leading, and the media is out of line to criticize its business, as are investors. Internally, however, there’s a different story to be told. It’s a story filled with attitude, cockiness, heated arguments among the executive team and Co-CEOs, and paranoia.
