Anonymous Philippines pledges more cyber attacks

Some 100 masked members of the hacking group Anonymous Philippines marched on parliament on Tuesday, denouncing corruption and pledging more cyber attacks, a week after 30 government websites were paralysed.

The hackers — wearing Guy Fawkes masks — faced off with dozens of riot police outside the House of Representatives in suburban Quezon city north of Manila, blocking the road and bringing traffic to a standstill for around an hour.

'Chinese hackers' deface Philippines news website

Suspected Chinese hackers defaced the website of the Philippines News Agency (PNA) on Sunday, officials said, a possible repeat of cyber attacks last year also blamed on China during a territorial row.

The state-run agency's website temporarily displayed the Chinese flag and the text: "China Hacker EvilShadow Team, We are evil shadow. We are the team. We have our own dignity China Hacker Lxxker."

Filipino hackers deface their own government's website over Sabah issue

Filipino hackers defaced the Philippines’ government telecommunications website yesterday, accusing Philippine President Benigno Aquino III of being “pro-Malaysian” amid the Sabah armed conflict with Sulu militants, Philippine broadcaster ABS-CBN News reported.

Anonymous Philippines previously hacked the Philippine president’s official website last Tuesday, with the hacker group lambasting Aquino for doing nothing to stop the alleged human rights violations against Filipinos in Sabah.

The website of the Office of the President was hacked by Anonymous Philippines Thursday morning because President Benigno Aquino III was allegedly "mishandling the Sabah issue."

"Greetings, President Aquino! We have watched how you signed into law a bill that endangers and tramples upon the netizens' freedom of speech and expression. Now, we are silent witnesses as to how you are mishandling the Sabah issue," the hacker group said in its message that took over the website.

Malaysian and Filipino hackers take Sabah conflict online

A territorial dispute in Sabah, which has resulted in an armed conflict, spilled online over the weekend with a slew of local Web sites hacked and defaced.

According to GMA News Online on Sunday, one Philippine Web site and several Malaysian ones were hacked and defaced with messages sympathizing with either side of the armed conflict.

Hackers protesting against the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 set off to infiltrate another round of government websites late on Monday.

The hackers, collectively known as "Anonymous Philippines," defaced the online presence of local government units including Bukidnon, Bolinao and Calasiao both in Pangasinan and Luna in Apayao Province and replaced them with a black screen, a logo and a message citing their right to freedom of expression.

The official website of Senate Majority Leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto III was hacked by a group claiming to be Anonymous Philippines past midnight on Tuesday, January 8.

Upon loading titosotto.com users are greeted with a pop-up message that says, "Defaced by #pR.is0n3r." When readers click through, they are greeted by an animated Anonymous Philippines logo, with a message criticizing RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Microsoft Philippines gets first woman chief

MICROSOFT Corp has appointed Karrie Capellan-Ilagan (pic) as the new managing director for Microsoft Philippines, the first time a woman will be helming the local subsidiary of the world’s largest software company.
 
Ilagan’s appointment, announced Aug 24,  comes after tech colossus IBM also named this year a Filipina, Mariels Almeda-Winhoffer, as the first female boss of its Philippine office.
