Cycloramic hits top of App Store after Shark Tank appearance, $500k investment & 100k downloads in an hour

What happens when your app gets featured on ABC’s Shark Tank, the TV show where rich investors listen to pitches from wannabe entrepreneurs looking to raise funds? For app developers Egos Ventures it means shooting up hundreds of spots on the App Store charts to become the top paid app in the store overnight. The developers behind the hands-free panorama app called Cycloramic were able to capture a $500k investment from two of the Sharks on last night’s episode.

iOS 7 jailbreak exploit allegedly stolen and sold

Stefan Esser, a security researcher known as i0n1c, is alleging that someone close to the evad3rs stole a jailbreak exploit and sold it to a private buyer. I0n1c is the hacker behind the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2. He also jailbroke the iPad 3 on iOS 5.1.

Yesterday morning Esser tweeted, "So apparently someone around the @evad3rs stole a jailbreak from them and sold it to a private buyer."

Another daylight saving time bug strikes Apple's iOS 7, affects calendar display

Owners of iOS devices running the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system awoke to a display error in iOS 7's calendar app caused by the switch to daylight saving time.

Several AppleInsider readers have reported the line indicating the current time is displaced by one hour in the calendar app — for example, at 12:15 p.m., the calendar app draws the "current time" line in the slot for 1:15 p.m., despite displaying the correct time beside the line and in the system notification bar.

Apple addresses security flaw in iOS 7 update

 The first big flaw discovered in iOS 7, which allowed users to sneak through the passcode screen, has been addressed by Apple in its 7.0.2 update. The new iteration, released on Thursday, also reintroduces the option to use the Greek alphabet keyboard for passcodes.

“It's great that they have released a fix in short order,” Erik Bataller, principal security consultant for mobile and cloud security company Neohapsis, told SCMagazine.com on Thursday.

Background App Refresh in iOS 7 reportedly causing login issues for some apps

An apparent bug in iOS 7's Background App Refresh implementation is causing users of certain third-party apps to be kicked out of login sessions, forcing them to reenter their credentials every few hours.

It is unknown at this time what exactly is causing the seemingly random logouts, though The Verge reports that app makers have narrowed down the culprit to a mechanism in Background App Refresh.

iOS 7 security flaws uncovered as new iPhones released

Security flaws have been uncovered in Apple's new iOS 7 software, just a day after its release.

A thief who steals an iPhone or iPad running the new software would be able to exploit the flaw and disable the Find my iPhone feature, used by owners and police to track down stolen Apple devices, even if the thief does not have the password for the device.
