Tech giant Apple Inc. is going to unveil the sixth beta version of its forthcoming iOS 5 on Wednesday, August 17, a new report claims.

According to this report by the technology site 9to5 Mac, the OTA update code cracked by their technical team is hinting very much towards the new beta version of the iOS 5 being available from August 17 onwards.

A 10-year-old hacker who goes by the pseudonym CyFi revealed today at DefCon 19 a zero-day exploit in games on iOS and Android devices that independent researchers have confirmed as a new class of vulnerability. The girl from California first discovered the flaw around January 2011 because she "started to get bored" with the pace of farm-style games.

Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 5 and iTunes 10.5 Beta 5 to Developers

Two weeks after releasing iOS 5 Beta 4, Apple has now pushed a fifth beta out to developers. You can grab iOS 5 Beta 5 with your registered developer account in the Dev Center, and the update can also be received as an over-the-air update on a device running iOS 5 Beta 4.

If you’re wondering about what’s new in Beta 5, the answer is not much. It is worth noting that, in order to perform an OTA update to iOS 5 Beta 5, you will need to have backed up your device through iCloud.

iPad users finally got their hands on a native Skype app today.

More than a month after it was expected to make its official debut, the iPad-optimized Skype client began appearing in Apple App Stores today. The new app takes advantage of the tablet's larger screen real estate, making for crisp and clear video chat over Wi-Fi, and often less crisp chat over 3G.
