Former Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, has criticised suggestions that Huawei is somehow involved in cyber warfare after the Chinese vendor was blocked from bidding for NBN work over security fears.
Huawei has given its backing to desktop virtualisation, revealing 45,000 of its own engineers use the technology.
The Chinese telecoms company only began to use desktop virtualisation in 2009, starting the roll-out at its research and development centre in Shanghai.
Huawei plans to buy out Symantec's 49 percent stake in a joint venture between the companies that provides security solutions for corporations for $US530 million.
The agreement is subject to regulatory approval, but analysts and company executives foresee few hurdles as the joint venture is based in Hong Kong. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2012, Huawei said in a statement on Tuesday.
