Hackers Reveal the Price of iOS Jailbreaks at #HITB2012AMS

There have been a lot of interesting developments here at Hack in the Box in Amsterdam, and one of them is the first ever union of the jailbreak Dream Team. Today, Softpedia has had the chance to interview the members of the Chronic Dev Team and learn some things that many were probably curious about. 

One of the topics we discussed referred to the financial value of jailbreaks. So how much is their work and the information they possess worth?

Absinthe 2.0 jailbreaks most iDevices running iOS 5.1.1

The untethered jailbreak Absinthe v2.0 debuted on Friday with compatibility for almost all devices powered by Apple's A4 and A5 processors running the latest iOS 5.1.1 firmware, and is the first solution to unlock the new iPad.

 

Announced at the Hack in the Box event in Amsterdam, GreenPois0n Absinthe v2.0 is the result of a collaboration between the Chronic-Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team and gives iDevice users wider access to system features normally prohibited by Apple thus allowing for the download of applications and extensions unavailable in the official App Store.

Security researcher urges IT managers to keep up with SAP patches

More than 95 percent of over 600 SAP systems tested by security firm Onapsis were vulnerable to espionage, sabotage and fraud, mainly because patches had not been applied, according to a researcher.

Attackers targeting SAP platforms don't need access credentials to perform these attacks, said Juan Perez-Etchegoyen, CTO of Onapsis, a Buenos Aires consulting firm focused on ERP systems and business-critical infrastructure. Perez-Etchegoyen made his remarks at the Hack in the Box conference in Amsterdam on Thursday. 

Bug bounty hunters reveal eight vulnerabilities in Google services

Security researchers unveiled eight vulnerabilities in Google services during the Hack in the Box conference in Amsterdam on Thursday -- but they claim to have discovered more than 100 such bugs over the past few months.

The bugs they revealed were found in Google's blog platform Blogger, its Analytics service and in Google Calendar, amongst other services. The two most interesting once are the bugs found in Calendar and Analytics, said Itzhak Avraham, security researcher and founder of the Tel Aviv-based security firm Zimperium.

'We Already Have a Part of the Jailbreak for iOS 6': @Pod2g

Pod2g, also known as Cyril, reveals that the 'dream team' of iOS hackers already has part of the jailbreak for iOS 6 in an interview with Softpedia.

"We won't give up on jailbreaking iOS devices because this is too important for us and we already have a part of the jailbreak for iOS 6 and we will be ready right on time for it," Cyril said.

Absinthe Used To Jailbreak 1.2 Million Devices On iOS 5.1.1 Over The Weekend

On Friday, May 25th hackers from the Chronic Dev Team released Absinthe 2.0, a tool that jailbreaks iOS 5.1.1 on nearly all iOS devices, including the third-gen iPad. The untethered jailbreak can be performed on an iOS device after downloading the free Absinthe app on any Mac, Windows or Linux computer. Once again proving that jailbreaking is becoming more mainstream, impressive Absinthe download numbers have been announced from over the weekend.

Will Hackers Pull A "One More Thing" And Release iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak This Friday?

We told you over the weekend that the untethered jailbreak for iOS devices running iOS 5.1.1 is dropping this week. The hacker who’s been spearheading the upcoming jailbreak, pod2g of the Chronic Dev Team, confirmed that the jailbreak was nearly done and arriving in a “matter of days.”

Coincidentally, the Chronic Dev Team will be presenting at the annual Hack in the Box (HITB) conference this week in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Since the 5.1.1. jailbreak is expected to drop this week, we’re placing bets on a release this Friday during the team’s keynote.
