Google's relationship with its own Chrome OS hardware has been a peculiar one. While other OEMs regularly push out new Chromebooks for users with various budgets, Google continues to refresh its hardware just once a year. Until now, those updates have produced luxury Chromebooks with varying degrees of popularity: 2017's Pixelbook won many hearts with its unique design, versatility as a convertible, and solid performance, while 2018's Pixel Slate tablet was a decided flop.

Ever since the original PlayStation hit the market in 1994, Sony's series of videogame consoles has stuck to the numbers. No "Super," no "Max," no "Code Red Xtreme"; just PlayStations 2, 3, and 4. With such unwavering consistency, the name of the next iteration has been a question only in the most technical sense—but Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan is still ready to answer it. The console, he tells me, will be called PlayStation 5. "It's nice to be able to say it," he says. "Like a giant burden has been lifted from my shoulders."

Apple has repeated its approach from 2018 for the September iPhone refresh, and just like last year there are three models. Apple's iPhone 11 has much of what makes the iPhone 11 Pro great for less than what the iPhone XR cost, and is very clearly the device that Apple wants people to buy.

Developers hunting through the just-released beta of iOS 13 have apparently found a reference to the date the next iPhone will be introduced. A screenshot labeled “hold for release” buried in the beta has a date on it: September 10.

This image is of an iPad’s home screen and therefore shows the complete “Tue Sep 10,” according to the Portuguese-language site iHelp BRM. A second image is of an iPhone home screen, and it includes the Calendar app displaying “Tuesday 10.”

We might see Apple adopting the "Pro" naming convention for the fanciest iPhone in its 2019 lineup. An anonymous Twitter account that correctly leaked the names of last year's iPhone XS, XS Max and XR suggested that we'll see an iPhone 11 Pro when Apple unveils this year's offerings next month, MacRumors reported.

"'Pro' for iPhone? Crazy naming schemes over the past few years," CoinX tweeted Saturday.

Penetration testers have long gone to great lengths to demonstrate the potential chinks in their clients' networks before less friendly attackers exploit them. But in recent tests by IBM's X-Force Red, the penetration testers never had to leave home to get in the door at targeted sites, and the targets weren't aware they were exposed until they got the bad news in report form. That's because the people at X-Force Red put a new spin on sneaking in—something they've dubbed "warshipping."
