All aboard the crazy cyber-attacked train? The TSA claimed that hackers launched a cyberattack that manipulated a railway company's computers. The two IP addresses belonging to intruders on December 1 and a third IP address location on Dec. 3 may indicate the cyberattack on railway computers was launched from overseas, according to NextGov.

Hackers opposing ACTA attack Poland’s governmental websites

Several Polish government websites, including that of the parliament and the prime minister, appear to have been disrupted over the weekend by online activists.

The attacks began late Saturday and lasted through Sunday morning,.
The affected websites were inaccessible or extremely slow.

An informal group of hackers who said were linked to the international hacking organization Anonymous took credit for the online attack meant as protest against the government's plans to sign the treaty, known as ACTA, they said in statement put on YouTube video-sharing website.

Federal Reserve contractor charged with source code theft

A U.S. Federal Reserve contractor has been charged with copying the source code of software that keeps track of large exchanges of money between U.S. government agencies.

Bo Zhang, who lives in Queens, New York, worked for the Reserve Bank of New York as a computer programmer on behalf of an unnamed third-party contracting firm. He was arrested Wednesday and released on US$200,000 bail. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The PROTECT IP Act continued to suffer serious blows on Thursday as both the Senate Majority Leader and the Senate Minority Leader made moves that further damaged the anti-piracy bill's chances of passage. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) will not seek to use his leverage over other Democrats to ensure the Protect IP Act gets enough votes to overcome a filibuster. Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) joined other Republican senators in blasting Reid for rushing the legislation to the Senate floor.

The Obama administration has joined the ranks of skeptics of the Stop Online Piracy Act. In an online statement released Saturday, three senior White House officials wrote that the administration "will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet."

Indian hackers claim US Government login list

An Indian hacking group responsible for leaking Symantec source code claim to be in possession of a database of login credentials for US Government agencies.

Accounts, seen and reported by infosec island, included 68 username and password sets acquired after the group claimed to have hacked the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the National Informatics Centre. The agencies did not comment when asked to respond to the claims.

Chinese 'attack US DoD Smart Cards' with Sykipot Malware

A new strain of the Sykipot malware is being used by Chinese cyber criminals to compromise US Department of Defense (DoD) smart cards, a new report has revealed.

The malware has been designed to take advantage of smart card readers running ActivClient - the client application of ActivIdentity - according to unified security information and event management (SIEM) company AlienVault.
