Bad news for would-be hackers targeting Americans: There’s a new cybersheriff in town.

After 24 years of service with the FBI, Shawn Henry, the head of the agency’s Cyber Crimes Unit, left service to become the president of security start-up CrowdStrike. And his brand of cyber security focuses on engaging the adversary and taking an offensive approach, by using their own hacking techniques against them.

Cybersecurity experts have uncovered a flaw in a component of the operating system of Google Inc's widely used Android smartphone that they say hackers can exploit to gain control of the devices.

Researchers at startup cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said they have figured out how to use that bug to launch attacks and take control of some Android devices.

Former CTO of McAfee, George Kurtz, has launched a new security technology company called CrowdStrike.  The company is still in stealth mode, but as reported earlier today on TechCrunch the company has revealed a $26 million Series A investment from Warburg Pincus (Kurtz was previously an EIR at the private equity firm).

The new company announced the formation of the company on George Kurtz blog, www.georgekurtz.com.
