A computer hacker has landed in jail for three years and five months after stealing data from iPads belonging to approximately 120,000 users.

Apple's iPad found itself the hacker's target through infiltrating the AT&T network, Reuters reports. Not only were normal United States citizens affected, but New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Harvey Weinstein and TV news anchor Diane Sawyer also bore the brunt of the attack.

If the rumors are true, real, honest-to-god 4G in the United States could be on the way sometime in the next 7 to 12 months. FierceWireless reports on word from AT&T's annual meeting with analysts that it will be "firing up" new "LTE Advanced" service across its network in the second half of 2013.

What is LTE Advanced? Well, it's a lot like 4G LTE, only more, um, advanced.

A hacker who helped publicize a vulnerability on AT&T's website, which affected more than 100,000 iPad 3G owners, has been convicted in federal court.

Andrew Auernheimer was found guilty last week of two charges: identity fraud and conspiracy to violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA). But the ruling has caused many in the tech community to question the rights of individuals who share security flaws with the public.

A hacker charged with federal crimes for obtaining the personal data of more than 100,000 iPad owners from AT&T’s website was found guilty on Tuesday.

Andrew Auernheimer, 26, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was found guilty in federal court in New Jersey of one count of identity fraud and one count of conspiracy to access a computer without authorization.

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson responded today to the recent rumor that the telecommunications company is planning to charge customers for data used in FaceTime calls over 3G. The feature was announced for iOS 6 in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco.

Asked about the rumor at the Fortune Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Stephenson acknowledged the rumor, but then also said it’s “too early to talk about pricing,” which may in fact be executive-speak for, “we won’t tell you how much we’re gonna charge.”
