According to a new blog post by the company, Apple will begin taking orders for its newly redesigned 13.6-inch MacBook Air on Friday, July 8, at 5 am PT. The laptop will arrive at buyers' doorsteps and be available for same-day retail purchase a week later on July 15.

The use of the M2 chip is the new 13-inch MacBook Pro's biggest change compared to the M1 version Apple launched in 2020, but it's apparently not the only one. YouTubers on the Max Tech and Created Tech channels (via MacRumors) have run speed tests on the 256GB version of the M2 MacBook Pro and discovered that the SSD's read and write speeds are as much as 50 percent slower than the 256GB SSD in the M1 MacBook Pro.

Every extant fitness tracker collects a massive amount of biometric data in an effort to help active people improve their athletic performance. These sensor-laden wearables track not only how many steps you take, but the rate at which your heart beats, the quality of your sleep, and even the amount you eat and drink. However, when it comes to planning workouts, I still haven’t found any smartwatch or app that gives advice as smart or as comprehensive as a live human coach.

Remember MagSafe? The power cord that magnetically stuck itself to the charging port on old MacBooks to prevent it from flying off the desk when someone tripped over the wire? Apple brought the innovative connector back on its high-end MacBook Pro models last year, but the feature is now making its way down to the most affordable laptop in its lineup: the MacBook Air. At WWDC 2022, Apple announced this new laptop alongside a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, both of which are powered by the also newly announced second-gen M2 processor.

Back in the late aughts, someone down the hall from my office shut a metal door, and in my head, it made more noise than it should have. Something was wrong with my ears, and after a month of bouncing between doctors, an audiologist told me I'd lost about half the hearing in my right ear and picked up a bit of tinnitus to boot.
