Pebble struggling to secure new funding in wake of Apple Watch, rumor claims

Silicon Valley venture capitalists are reportedly turning down requests from smartwatch maker Pebble for funding, leading to speculation that the company may be struggling following the launch of the Apple Watch.

Citing sources close to the company, TechCrunch reported on Wednesday that Pebble instead obtained a $5 million loan and another $5 million line of credit from a bank, after efforts to secure venture capital funding were denied.

A research note by Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has leaked, indicating a number of planned changes that Apple will allegedly be making to their flagship device during its next iteration; including a 12MP rear camera, a long-awaited memory boost to 2GB of RAM, and a rose gold colour option for the Apple geek that must have all his gear match. Other changes that are listed include rearranged internals to address BendGate, another microphone to improve speech quality, and Force Touch input in order to bring that technology from the Mac to their primary breadwinner.

Controversial MacKeeper security program opens critical hole on Mac computers

A critical vulnerability in MacKeeper, a controversial security program for Mac computers, could let attackers execute malicious commands on Macs when their owners visit specially crafted Web pages.

MacKeeper’s developers acknowledged the recently discovered problem and released a fix for it Friday, saying in a blog post that users should run MacKeeper Update Tracker and install version 3.4.1 or later.

iOS Hacker Shows Web Browser Running on Apple Watch

iOS developer Nicholas Allegra, better known by his handle "comex" within the jailbreaking community, shared a short video on Twitter that shows a web browser running on the Apple Watch. The fifteen-second clip shows Allegra tapping, panning and zooming on the Google homepage on the Apple Watch, but the functionality is limited as to be expected because of the small screen size and lack of an on-screen keyboard.

The ResearchKit and HealthKit platform is intended to allow health researchers to aggregate information collected from iOS users who opt-in to contribute their personal medical data.

Apple’s long-rumored relaunch of the Beats music-streaming service is slated for June, and in preparation, the company is softening the beaches by playing hardball with record labels. And, not for the first time, federal trade commissioners aren’t particularly happy.
