A Hong Kong company is promoting a netbook that sports a backward Apple logo on its case and desktop wallpaper. Oddly enough, the computer doesn't ship with a hacked version of the Mac operating system.

The product's description says the netbook ships with a 1.3GHz VIA Nano processor, a 1,024-by-576-pixel display and, get this — either Windows XP or Ubuntu.

Apple iPhone 3.0 event tomorrow might reveal a tablet

The Apple iPhone 3.0 event tomorrow might have more surprises than are immediately apparent. Especially in relation to a tablet. Here's my hypothesis why:

I've got a pretty good idea that Apple is going to be releasing more iPod touch/iPhone platform devices. Why? Well, for one, they've said so in a job posting at the end of last year. The software developed by the networking team runs on a broad spectrum of platforms, including Macs and Windows, and from servers down to a growing number of embedded devices including iPhone.

Apple on Thursday evening made available to its developer community yet another pre-release of Mac OS X 10.5.7, which stands to be the seventh maintenance and security update to the company's Leopard operating system in less than 18 months.

The new beta, reportedly labeled Mac OS X 10.5.7 build 9J30, is believed to be just the third external distribution of the impending software release provided to third-party application developers, with roughly the first two dozen builds having been evaluated in-house.

Expectations that a new iPhone will appear midyear have been boosted by a report that iPhone 3G prices are set to fall in the UK. Last April, UK mobile carrier O2 slashed £100 from the price of the original iPhone with 8G of memory. Then in June, Apple announced the iPhone 3G.

Now Telegraph.co.uk tells us that unidentified sources say O2 is preparing the offer the 8G iPhone 3G at no upfront cost on a wider range of plans.

Apple's iPod Touch is one of the hottest devices around and unfortunately for one youngster it got so hot that it exploded in his pocket.

The mother of a child living in Cincinnati is suing Apple and ten unnamed retail employees for "gross negligence and recklessness, as they supposedly conducted themselves maliciously and fraudulently when selling the iTouch".

Jon Stewart exposes Apple stock manipulation

Proving once again that the best way to reach Americans' brain is through their funny bone, Jon Stewart of the Daily Show continued his warpath aimed at irresponsible financial reporting by CNBC, specifically calling Jim Cramer out for his comments on how easy it was to profit from misinformation aimed at Apple.

Calling it "disingenuous at best and criminal at worst," Stewart grilled Cramer, the host of the frantic energetic "Mad Money" entertainment show, for his act of being "doe-eyed innocent" while celebrating the admittedly illegal shenanigans of hedge fund managers.

Apple to show sneak peak of iPhone OS 3.0 next week

Earlier today, Apple issued a press event announcement that promises to offer a "sneak peek" at iPhone OS 3.0. It'll go down at 10am Pacific on March 17th in Apple's Town Hall building in Cupertino.

As usual, the whole thing is rather cryptic. From the "blueprint" graphic and text, it sounds like the event will be limited to an overview (but not a release) of iPhone OS 3.0. Perhaps we'll learn a bit about any changes to the SDK as well.

What would you like to see? Copy and paste, for sure. Push notifications for 3rd party apps next. Anything else?

Apple netbook coming with OLED screen?

In another twist to the Apple netbook story, reports are coming in that Apple is in talks with Sony to license its OLED technology for the screen.

Sources at Smarthouse in Australia have claimed 'inside sources' have let slip that talks between the two companies have taken place, with a view to releasing a 10-inch OLED netbook for Christmas this year.

The same source also states that the change of heart from Apple over an 'iMac mini' is because the company has improved its touch software and has finally been able to patent the features it wants in a small notebook.

2G iPod Touch Jailbroken at Last

The iPod Touch 2G is now another member of the “pwned for life” family. It has a fatal flaw in its bootrom that means you will always be able to pwn these devices no matter what firmware updates come along. This is the full, untethered jailbreak, something that iPod Touch 2G users have not had before today.
