Rumor: New Sandy Bridge Mac Pros And MacBook Airs Arrive On Thursday, Right After Lion

We’ve been hearing that Apple’s next desktop operating system, OS X Lion, will be released on July 14th. Alongside Lion, there have also been rumors that Apple will release a new MacBook Air and Mac Pro model at the same time.

Apple is reportedly set to release new machines with Intel’s Sandy Bridge chips. The new MacBook Airs aren’t expected to have an exterior design change, but instead focus on improved internal hardware. The updated Mac Pros are rumored to have a rack-mountable, narrower enclosure. 

No surprises: Apple readying fix for iOS PDF jailbreak flaw

Apple on Thursday said it is working to fix a security flaw in its iOS mobile platform that is being used to jailbreak iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices and may soon be leveraged by more nefarious individuals.

The flaw, which involves the way iOS handles fonts embedded in PDF files, was revealed on Wednesday with the release of JailbreakMe 3, a web-based tool that allows users to easily jailbreak their devices, including the iPad 2.

Apple Inc. is getting closer to launching its next iPhone, as it works to stay ahead of competition from smartphone rivals such as Samsung Electronics Co.

Apple has ordered key components for a new iPhone it is aiming to launch by the end of September, said people familiar with the situation. These people said the new iPhone is expected to be similar to the current iPhone 4, but thinner and lighter with an improved eight-megapixel camera.

Prototype iPhone 4 listed for sale on eBay

A prototype version of Apple's iPhone 4, based on test hardware built before the device went into mass production, has appeared for sale on eBay.

The new listing from seller "jtmaxo" is set to expire on July 11. The posting refers to the device as a "prototype," and notes that the serial number written on it is not valid when entered on Apple's website.

AntiSec claims to have hit Apple in latest attack

A group of computer hackers on Sunday posted a document it claimed contains usernames and passwords for an Apple Inc. server, the latest in a string of brazen attacks that have compromised government and corporate websites around the world.

"AntiSec," a hacking campaign that includes hackers from both the online vigilante group Anonymous and hackers from the now-defunct Lulz Security, posted a document containing a link to a supposed Apple server along with a list of 26 administrative usernames and passwords. AntiSec is Internet shorthand for "anti-security."

PDF based iPad 2 jailbreak leaked

After weeks of anticipation, we knew that the release of JailbreakMe was imminent. The clues and hints that Comex had left behind were just too obvious. What we didn’t expect, though, was that one of the beta testers for JailbreakMe would leak it out to the world.

Links started popping up on several websites this morning, and by simply opening a PDF document from your device (yes, including the iPad 2), you were able to install Cydia, much like you install an app from the App Store.
