A Win for Wireless

The prospects for 802.11b, Bluetooth, and other local-area wireless technologies get better every day. Earlier this month, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) made three significant changes to its rules that should directly promote the development and use of local-area wireless networks. In amending Part 15 of its rules, the FCC, an independent government agency charged with regulating communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable, has essentially reduced the restrictions on wireless hardware manufacturers, letting them build more adept devices.
