A utility for entering the Indian scripts

Indic Input Method Editor
is a utility for entering the Indian scripts Bengali, Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Tamil, and Telugu directly into a browser on Windows® operating systems.

In India, these scripts are used to conduct daily business. Computing in India has traditionally taken place primarily in English because of the lack of international script support in digital information systems. With the introduction of Unicode, however, more and more scripts can be stored digitally. This development has enabled software vendors to create e-business solutions for these languages. Unfortunately, there still exist a number of scripts that are not adequately supported. In many cases it is simply a lack of keyboards and fonts.
