A major US military contractor may have spent years at the total mercy of hackers connected with the Chinese military.

The claims, made in a Bloomberg report on 1 May, suggest that the hackers had unrestricted access to high-level, sensitive military technology and classified documents.

QinetiQ North America, a division of the British defence company QinetiQ, was plundered and looted by a hacker group known as the "Comment Crew" from 2007 to 2010. In a wide-ranging attack, Comment Crew are believed to have targeted a host of US defence contractors and were able to "make off with some of the [US's] most closely guarded technological secrets," according to the report.
