T-Mobile To Offer 20Mbps 3G Data Service

T-Mobile is set to roll out its 'super 3G' data service with data download speeds of around 20Mb/sec. These speeds will be made possible by the 3G LTE technology with a theoretical maximum download rate of 100Mb/sec.

The 3G LTE technology is planned for complete roll-out to the United Kingdom by 2010 with the aid of HSDPA, or the High-Speed Downlink Packet Access protocol. The HSDPA protocol achieves its incredible speeds by operating ontop of the UTMS transmission technology. The high-speed service also aims to eliminate the need for land-line connectivity like cable model or DSL broadband internet access along with landline phone service.L33tdawg: Why the heck can't the Malaysian telco's deploy this 20Mbps 3G as opposed to the current measly 384Kbps? It would solve the whole 'last mile' broadband deployment problems they're currently facing. This is really one of the things about Malaysia that sucks... while our neighbours both down south (Singapore) and up north (Thailand) have TRUE broadband offerings (4Mbps and above is what I'd consider 'decent' broadband), Malaysians are still stuck at 1Mbps! WTF.
