IBM HAS used its new self-healing software at a major sports event for the first time: this year's Australian Open.

Most tennis fans will be unaware of the autonomic computing, rapid messaging and Linux servers in the background, but they will see results faster on the official website, IBM says.

IBM carried out the draw for the Australian Open on Friday - the first time a grand slam draw has been done by computer.
