The latest Information Security Solutions Europe conference brings together ministers and experts to debate security. The Information Security Solutions Europe (ISSE) 2001 conference in London next week will attract many companies eager to improve computer security.

The conference, which runs from this Wednesday until Friday at the QEII conference centre, will bring together government ministers, European commissioners, legal experts and security specialists, who will debate current IT security concerns and suggest possible solutions. Speakers will include UK e-commerce minister Douglas Alexander, e-envoy Andrew Pinder, and executive director of the International Centre for Security Analysis, Dr Andrew Rathmell.

Sessions will cover the political and legal aspects of security, such as e-signatures and consumer protection; authentication technology, such as biometrics; wireless and mobile commerce issues; and the application of public key infrastructure (PKI) encryption.

The event will also be a stage for product launches. Many of the products are designed to secure corporate networks and ensure firms comply with government and European directives. GlobalSign, a certification services business, will launch a Web portal to provide information for companies and general Internet users on the role and implementation of digital signatures. This move follows the e-envoy's recent statement that wider education about PKI is needed.

Security firm Utimaco Safeware will launch two digital signature solutions. SafeGuard Transaction Client is a browser plug-in for digitally signing Web-based content or transactions. SafeGuard Sign&Crypt for Office is a digital signature and encryption solution, which allows firms to sign and encrypt emails.
