Second DDoS Attack on 4chan Leads to Downtime

posted onJanuary 6, 2011
by hitbsecnews

Community site 4chan (www.4chan.org) suffered another distributed denial of service attack Monday, according to a report by Web analytics firm Netcraft.

Many of the individuals in pro-WikiLeaks hackers group Anonymous are also members of 4chan's boards.

Despite this, there has been no evidence that the current attack is connected to any of the previous DDoS attacks launched by Anonymous. Shortly after the attack occurred, the community site posted an update on status.4chan.org that said, "Another day, another DDoS! Right on the eve of /b/'s 300 millionth post."
