SAP has paid out an undisclosed sum to former customer Waste Management over the implementation of a failed enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

The garbage disposal company sued after the software it received was “undeveloped, untested, and defective,” according to its filing. The software was "unstable and lacking key functionality,” it said and "a complete and utter failure."

Waste Management sued two years ago, claiming the $100m cost of the software and for over $350m in lost profits that could have been realised if the software had worked. According to the company's Securities and Exchange Commission filing SAP has agreed to settle the case for an undisclosed sum.
