Round of job shuffling expected at Intel
WORD HAS REACHED MY TENDER ears that there will be a shuffling of execs happening at Intel in the next couple of days. This will be higher up the food chain rather than lower, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out which divisions are going to be hit.
The question I have is that how many people who made the critical calls that lead to the current woes are still in place? If Intel is well managed, and I think it really is, it will hunt out those truly responsible, rather than just pick the current people sitting in the hot seat. Is Abhi responsible for the server division's chip problems? I don't think so. Was Fister? I don't have a clue, but it would be hard to fire him nowadays.
With luck, Intel will volunteer the right people for their new jobs, like, say, governing the Antarctic research division, and not the current people. The only people I would look at Yu'ing are the DPG folk who steadfastly did not admit problems until it was way to late. EPG will probably get a good internal scrubbing also.
