Powerful $9 Mini PC Is Making a Killing on Kickstarter
CHIP, the new $9 (€8) mini-PC that runs Linux and that has some incredible hardware specs, is making a killing on Kickstarter, and it looks like it's still going.
A new Kickstarter campaign was launched for a small CHIP mini PC, and the response from the community was over the top. It's the first device of its kind that arrives at this price, and its makers are surely surprised at the sheer amount of support that they have received. They initially asked for just $50,000 (€45,000), but in just a few days they managed to raise more than $550,000 (€445,000), and they still have 25 days left in their campaign.
We have already written about this new mini PC in details, but many people look at it as the Raspberry Pi killer. That would be an unfair assessment as they are pretty different mini PCs. The can perform similar basic functions, as a regular PC, but Raspberry Pi is developed to interact with numerous other components and has the connections to do it. In any case, both CHIP and Raspberry Pi 2 have their market, and it will be interesting to see where this miniaturization race is going.
