Piracy fears erode rights of gamers

While corporations try to exert control over the rise of piracy in the digital age, people’s rights are being whittled down. Software companies are requiring people to register games and products online and it often involves collecting personal data that have now become required fields to register products.

I have no idea how knowing my birthday is going to help me run the program or why they need to install their own backdoor programs underneath the one I’ve purchased just to ensure I didn’t pirate the software.

The program only comes with the legitimate software because it is usually hacked out or pirated software. So how do the corporations think requiring legitimate buyers to jump through the hoops and provide all their information is stopping others from ripping them off?
