New viruses plague Vietnamese computers
Over 2,600 computer viruses new to Vietnam attacked nearly 5.5 million computers in the country last month, said Vietnam’s leading cyber security center, adding that most of the viruses had originated abroad.
Nguyen Tu Quang, director of the Hanoi University of Technology’s Bach Khoa Inter-network Security Center (BKIS), said more than 1.2 million computers were infected with the W32 Kavo virus and its variants last month. After first appearing in Vietnam in September last year, the Chinese-born W32 Kavo virus now has more than 3,190 variants spreading throughout local networks, according to the center.
