Murdoch says hacking accusations are lies
News Corporation boss Rupert Murdoch says he is preparing to "hit back" at what he describes as the "lies" directed towards his business and the BBC and the Australian Financial Review both alleged that News Corp has been involved in sabotaging its pay television competitors.
They're claiming that News Corp subsidiary, NDS, had recruited a hacker to acquire the smart card codes of ITV Digital, the major pay TV rival to Sky TV network in Britain. Tweeting from the @rupertmurdoch account, he said: "Seems every competitor and enemy piling on with lies and libels. So bad, easy to hit back hard, which [we are] preparing," he wrote on the @rupertmurdoch account.
