Mac OS X malware – What will the Apple fanboys say?

After having been told for years that Macs are much safer and more secure than Windows-based PCs, it’s kind of satisfying when a nasty piece of malware hits the Apple operating system.

According to anti-virus company Intego, a new high-risk spyware application known as ‘OSX/OpinionSpy‘ has hit Mac OS X.

I wouldn’t wish malware on anyone, no matter what type of computer, OS, or browser they use. But it’s about time Mac owners and Apple fanboys stopped acting as if their systems are somehow immune to this type of security risk. The truth is that Windows is hit time and again because it’s by far the most popular operating system used around the world. But now that Macs are gaining ground, it’s worth hackers’ time and money attempting to exploit people and their machines to obtain data.
